Herb & Garlic Bone Marrow Recipe | Easy Autumn Postpartum Nourishment

Hello Momma,

There’s something so comforting about going back to basics in the kitchen. 🍂 Simple ingredients. Traditional foods. Slow meals. And recipes that don’t require a long list of complicated steps. This Herb & Garlic Bone Marrow is exactly that.

Rich, savory and buttery, bone marrow is one of those traditional foods that feels especially lovely during the cooler months. I love serving it warm with toasted sourdough for a cozy addition to an autumn meal. 🤎

And when you’re preparing for postpartum, I’m a big believer in making nourishment as simple as possible. Having nutrient-dense foods already prepared and easy to enjoy can make those early days feel a little more supported and a lot less overwhelming.

🧺 Why I Love Going Back to Basics

The postpartum season is not the time to make everything complicated.

This is a season for nourishment, rest, warmth and being cared for.

That can look like a pot of homemade broth in the refrigerator, a nourishing meal waiting to be reheated, or something simple like warm bone marrow served with sourdough.

Traditional foods can be incredibly comforting because they remind us that nourishing ourselves doesn’t have to mean following complicated recipes or spending hours in the kitchen. Sometimes, simple really is enough. 🤎

🍂 Herb & Garlic Bone Marrow

Ingredients

• 4–6 bone marrow pieces

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 3 cloves garlic, finely minced

• 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped

• 1 tsp fennel seeds

• ½ tsp sea salt, plus more to taste

• ¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven.

Preheat oven to 450°F.

2. Prepare the marrow.

Place the bone marrow pieces cut-side up on a baking sheet or roasting pan.

3. Season generously.

Drizzle with olive oil and add the minced garlic, rosemary, fennel seeds, sea salt and black pepper.

4. Roast.

Roast for approximately 15–20 minutes, until the marrow is soft, warmed through and beginning to become golden around the edges.

Keep an eye on it toward the end because you want the marrow beautifully softened without allowing it to completely melt away.

5. Serve warm.

Serve immediately with toasted sourdough or alongside your favorite nourishing meal. 🍂🤎

🤎 How I Like to Serve It

My favorite way to enjoy bone marrow is incredibly simple: Warm bone marrow + toasted sourdough + a little flaky sea salt. You could also serve it alongside roasted vegetables, a hearty soup, roast chicken or another cozy autumn meal. It makes an ordinary meal feel a little more special without requiring much extra work.
