Pomegranate Anti-Nausea Birth Ginger Honey Lozenges
Hello momma,
When you’re preparing for birth or settling into your postpartum cocoon, little comforts can make all the difference — especially when nausea, heartburn, or morning sickness sneak up on you.
These Pomegranate Anti-Nausea Birth Ginger Honey Lozenges are my nourishing twist on the classic Kitrusy Honey-Ginger Chews recipe. They combine the warming, digestion-soothing power of fresh ginger and honey with the tart, antioxidant-rich flavor of pomegranate juice.
The result is a sweet-spicy, gently tangy lozenge that supports queasy tummies during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum recovery — or anytime you need a bit of grounding and warmth.
💗 Ingredients
• 3–4 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
• 1 cup water
• 1 cup pomegranate juice
• ¾ cup raw cane sugar (or evaporated cane juice)
• ¼ cup honey
• Cornstarch or tapioca starch, for dusting
🍬 Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, combine grated ginger, water, and pomegranate juice. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the liquid reduces to about 1 cup.
2. Strain out the ginger and return the liquid to the pan.
3. Add the sugar and honey, stirring until dissolved. Continue cooking until the syrup reaches 260–265°F (hard-ball stage).
4. Pour onto a parchment-lined tray and let cool until firm but still pliable.
5. Dust with starch, cut into small squares, or roll into lozenges.
6. Store in a jar or tin at room temperature for up to 6 weeks (or refrigerate for longer shelf life).
🍇 Why I Love These for Birth & Postpartum
These lozenges are simple, soothing, and made from pantry staples — perfect to tuck into your hospital bag, labor snacks, or postpartum care basket.
The ginger helps calm nausea and support digestion, while the pomegranate brings antioxidants, gentle sweetness, and a touch of color. They’re lovely to suck on between contractions, during long car rides to appointments, or as a natural way to ease queasiness while healing postpartum.
They’re one of those small, homemade comforts that make a big difference.
