Hello Momma,
November is one of my favorite months to lean into cozy, comforting foods for postpartum. The weather is cooling down, seasonal squash is abundant, and the kitchen naturally becomes a place for warm soups, homemade snacks, and nourishing meals.
When I’m creating postpartum menus for my momma clients, I’m always thinking about food that feels comforting and satisfying while still being practical. Meals that can be prepared ahead, reheated easily, tucked into the freezer, or enjoyed during those busy newborn days.
This month’s menu is filled with roasted winter squash, creamy soups, warming herbs and spices, hearty beans, homemade snacks, and a little chocolate. These are some of my favorite ways to bring seasonal ingredients into postpartum cooking.
My November Postpartum Favorites:
Roasted Acorn Squash Soup
This roasted acorn squash soup is creamy, cozy, and full of fall flavor. Made with roasted acorn squash, carrots, coconut milk, and warming spices, it’s a comforting bowl to enjoy on a chilly day. I love making a batch ahead of time for easy lunches or dinners during the fourth trimester.
Butternut Squash White Bean Soup
Roasted butternut squash, creamy cannellini beans, roasted garlic, and fresh herbs come together in this satisfying seasonal soup. I especially love the addition of white beans for plant-based protein and fiber. It’s a lovely meal to prepare ahead and keep in the freezer.
Creamy Kabocha Squash Miso Dumpling Soup
Kabocha squash and miso come together in this creamy, savory soup that feels especially fitting for November. I love incorporating seasonal squash into postpartum meals, and this is another comforting option to make ahead and enjoy throughout the week.
Cranberry Trail Mix Energy Bites
These little energy bites are inspired by classic trail mix, with rolled oats, dried cranberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds, Medjool dates, almond butter, and chocolate chips. They’re easy to prepare ahead and keep in the refrigerator for those moments when you need a quick, satisfying snack.
Fudgy Kabocha Squash Brownies
A little chocolate absolutely belongs in postpartum nourishment, too! These fudgy brownies are made with roasted kabocha squash purée, almond flour, cocoa powder, and plenty of chocolate chips. They’re soft, slightly cake-like, and wonderfully fudgy. A delicious seasonal treat to keep on hand.
November Produce for the Postpartum Table
November brings so many beautiful ingredients for cozy postpartum cooking. Kabocha, acorn, and butternut squash are some of my favorites for roasting, blending into soups, and incorporating into baked goods. Cranberries add a lovely seasonal touch to snacks and treats, while carrots, garlic, and fresh herbs bring color and flavor to simple meals.
For postpartum, I love choosing ingredients that are versatile, satisfying, and easy to prepare in batches. A warm bowl of soup, a homemade snack waiting in the refrigerator, or a little chocolate treat alongside a cup of tea can all be small ways of making sure the person doing the caring is being cared for, too.
November is such a beautiful time to make your kitchen a little cocoon of nourishment. Keep the food warm, comforting, seasonal, and easy to reach for during those early weeks with your baby.
wishing you all the healing,
Megan
